Book Shelves

Excuse the random post but I've been wondering about something. How do you arrange your books on your shelves/bookcases/wherever?

I've never been able to organize alphabetically because I have to keep all my faves together. And size matters as well! Until a couple of weeks ago I mixed YA/adult books on those top faves shelves. Then I ran out of space and split them because I could fit things better that way. Now I'm thinking about yet another change and having one of those top faves shelves become my signed books shelf (right now signed books are just with their correct series on the faves shelves, no special place).

In my room I've got two tall bookcases (only half of one is dedicated to books, the other half holds my TV and dvds), one short bookcase and two wall units, which have two shelves each. Those wall units are my faves shelves (really, it's a wonder the walls haven't fallen down with the weight on them) and as it stands right now this is what they look like:
Adults faves - (my walls are not that bright! Silly flash)

YA faves - (...also deeper red than they look here. *sigh*)

Very neat and I was very happy with the sort out I last did. But. It can't last because as you can see, there is not a lot of space to play with. It will take very little time for them to be full. So if I'm going to have to do yet another sort out, should I be switching how I organize by books?

How do you all organize books? What matters for you? Size? Alphabetically? Favourites? Genre? Comment away!

Blegh

Hello all :) I seem to have picked up several new followers of late, so a big welcome to you, I really appreciate it!

In case you hadn't noticed, I've not posted any reviews since Saturday. This wasn't intentional, I have 3 finished titles I intend to review, but I am sick. I spent most of yesterday asleep. And suspect today will be more of the same. I can't really focus long enough to write a decent review at the moment so I apologise for the lack of reasonable content and hope to correct this soon. Hopefully I'll be doing better at the weekend.

Til then, much love and a thank you to all my followers :) When I hit 100 there will be a giveaway, though I've no idea what just yet, but I promise it'll be something good, and open internationally. ♥

Bit Quiet...

Just a quick update/note. I've just spent 5 hours in the ER with a friend (everything is okay now) and it's meant I've not slept all night. Which is going to take a huge toll on me because of the CFS/ME and likely mean reading will be a real struggle for the next couple days, as well as writing reviews. So chances are you're not going to hear from me much, if at all, before Thursday. I apologise in advance and hope to make up for it when I can, but health comes first. Or so I'm lead to believe...

In Reading Mode

Having CFS/ME means there are times where reading is really tough for me. But there are times where I'm doing just a little better and I get in to this groove where I can read and read. Well, not all day every day, but lots and lots and it's all I want to do. I'm in one of those right now, and it means I'm reading without reviewing. Apologies.

Right now I owe revies for the second Demon Princess book from Michelle Rowen 'Reign check' (which I really enjoyed), the first in Jenna Black's new Faeriewalker series 'Glimmerglass' (which I adoreded) and Devon Monk's first Allie Beckstorm book 'Magic to the Bone' (which I also loved). And I'm starting on J. R. Ward's Dark Lover tonight.

I will try and get the reviews for the first three up tomorrow, but apologies if I don't, because I really want to make the most of feeling good enough to read so much right now :)

ROFL

Please excuse the random short post, but Ilona Andrews, author of the awesome Kate Daniels series answered the question 'what if Kate and Curran could Twitter?' on the blog today. The result left me doubled up in laughter. And in tears. Just that funny. So I have to share: http://www.ilona-andrews.com/2010/05/04/phhhhttthhh/

If you've not read the Kate Daniels series thus far, or have put it down because the first book is not so great (it's not, but the rest of the series more than makes up for it!!) then I suggest you take a little look around Ilona and Gordon's site and check it out. It is very easily one of the best series I've ever read, combining humor, tension (sexual and otherwise), magic, shifters, a very different take on vampires and a post apocalyptic world seamlessly to create a unique and un-put-downable urban/dark fantasy series. Read it. Right now.

And bring on May 25th for the 4th installment!! It can't get here soon enough!!

New Books!!!

Yesterday was my 22nd birthday and it was an awesome day. I did indeed go on a total splurge for new books. 18 in total as it turned out. Safe to say I'm not going to be short of new reading material for a little while ;)

I bought 7 books when I was out, came home and ordered another 11 online. 9 of those turned up today from Amazon (prime membership at work) and the other 2 will arrive some point next week seeing as they had to come from Book Depository not Amazon but it's all good. So a run down of the titles that will be read and (almost certainly) reviewed on here:

Bluemoon by Alyson Noel
Shadowland by Alyson Noel
How to Ruin a Summer Vacation by Simone Elkeles
Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves
Mark of the Demon by Diana Rowland
Soulless by Gail Carriger
Rumours by Anna Godbersen
Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning
Valiant by Holly Black
Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn
Evernight by Claudia Gray
Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
Vacations from Hell (anthology featuring Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare, Claudia Gray and more)
Magic to the Bone by Devon Monk
The Better Part of Darkness by Kelly Gay
Dark Lover by J. R. Ward

And the others were some general YA fiction and a horse book, none of which are likely to make the blog ;) I'm currently reading The Luxe by Anna Godbersen and very much liking it. But I'm still very anxious to get in to this new pile of books! They're calling to me...

Oh and also, Book Depository had 'The Demon in Me' the first in the new Living in Eden series by Michelle Rowen instock today, so that's been ordered to and will also be here some time next week. Yay!

Looking, looking...

So a week today it's my birthday, and while generally speaking hate my birthday, I'm really looking forward to it this year. For one simple reason: I get to buy books. My birthday pressie from my parents is some money for a book shopping spree, which I've known for a couple months, so I've really restricted my book buying habits for a while, and I can't wait to splurge again. I keep looking through my wish list on amazon thinking 'that's a must have, so is that, should that be one too? Hmm...' and so on. So ahead of time (cause when I get them, I'm sure to lose myself in them all for about a week) I thought I'd share some of what I'm planning on getting, so the reviews you can expect to come. If anyone has any comments on any of this list, I'd be more than happy to hear them :)

A couple must haves for me, having read Perfect Chemistry last week, are Simone Elkeles' Rules of Attraction and Leaving Paradise. Both contemporary young adult fiction. Likewise, having really enjoyed Evermore by Alyson Noel, I'm intending to get books 2 and 3 of the Immortals series, Bluemoon and Shadowland. On recommendation from Jess at A Great Read I'm getting Soulless by Gail Carriger, a 19th century set story with vampires and werewolves (I think? lol). And having seen a contest for this (and the second in the series) on Karen Mahoney's (who's debut YA book will be out next year and I'm really looking forward to) blog, I'm getting Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. I thought they sounded interesting, so I'm giving it a try!

Also planning on getting Evernight by Claudia Grey (YA UF), Mark of the Demon by Diana Rowland, the first in the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward 'Dark Lover', Valiant by Holly Black (YA UF) and Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning.

Then there are the others I'd like to get, if I get given enough money (or simply decide to not save at all this month): Magic To The Bone by Devon Monk, Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev, Firespell by Chloe Niell, The Better Part of Darkness by Kelly Gay, Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder...my list goes on, and on, and on, and on...

Right now, I'm also currently reading two books, Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, which I'm almost halfway through and can't decide if I'm liking it or not, and Kelley Armstrong's Tales of the Otherworld. Hoping to finish both by Friday, so expect reviews for them soon!
