While you're here, don't forget to check out my YA Contemps Giveaway!! Ends next Sunday!!

IMM is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

Another super stressful, horrible week, but with an awesome haul of books. What's with that?

For review
Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton
Thank you Random House!

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Thank you Lynsey, UK Book Tours!

Gifted
Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson
Wintercraft by Jenna Burtenshaw
Long Reach by Peter Cocks
Need by Carrie Jones
Massive thanks to Clover from Fluttering Butterflies for these!! She is super sweet and her blog is awesome, so you should all go follow her :)

Bought
River Marked by Patricia Briggs
Break by Hannah Moskowitz
A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford
Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton
Iron Crowned by Richelle Mead
Pretty bad Things by C. J. Skuse
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Rhamin by Bryce Thomas (this was random, hadn't heard of the book before, but author was signing in WHSmiths when I was there the other day, it involves wolves and he said a slight paranormal edge, so I happily bought it.)

Seeing how I'm barely managing to read a book a week right now, I think it's well past time I went on a book buying ban. Cause seriously, anything not for review will just be sitting there for months. Although I want to read them, I just can't right now.

In My Mailbox [17]

IMM is hosted by the lovely Kristi over at The Story Siren as a chance to share the books we've received or bought over the past week.

Kristi, I'm sure you all know, is a massive supportive, positive presence in the book blogging world. And now she's asking for help. On Friday she shared the news on twitter that her 6 year old cousin Kaylea had been diagnosed with leukimia. Understandably this has shocked their whole family. Kristi is asking for any support that could be offered, a card, a book or a monetary donation if possible. You may well have seen the post already anyway, but I want to add it in here to help make sure it's seen. I'm keeping them all in my prayers right now.

This week I got:

For review:
The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell - Goodreads
I'll be honest here and state that this is one which sounds pretty good, but is outside my usual tastes. Won't be reading it for a couple weeks, but I'm curious to find out if I get on with it or not.
Thanks to NetGalley

Gift:
Once Bitten, Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin - Goodreads
Belated Christmas present from one of my best friends! Thanks hun :) <3

Bought:
The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa [The Iron Fey #3] - Goodreads // review - I'm so in love with this series now and TIQ is just...wow!! I'm so desperate for The Iron Knight! And for someone who's not a pink girl, I love this cover!
My Soul To Save by Rachel Vincent [Soul Screamers #2] (UK version) - Goodreads - I love the Soul Screamers series and I'm totally in love with these UK covers, so of course I'm collecting them despite having the US ones already!! Go read this series if you haven't yet.
Flash Burnout by L. K. Madigan - Goodreads
The Mermaid's Mirror by L. K. Madigan - Goodreads - A couple weeks back my twitter feed was suddenly full of retweets to a post from Lisa where she shared, very eloquently, her very hard news that she has stage IV cancer. So aside from sending her and her family my thoughts and prayers, I did the only other thing I could to support her, and bought her books just as soon as I had the spare money to do so. Hoping to read both of them very soon.

In My Mailbox [16]

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Kristi at The Story Siren.

I only got two books this week (both bought), but they're great books!! And both have very pretty, very cool covers as well...

Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning - the final book in the Fever series [book #5] - Goodreads // review
I loved it. Great ending to the series, despite a few little issues with it. Mostly I am a very, very happy Fever fan!!

The Iron Witch by Karen Mahoney - The Iron Witch Saga #1 - Goodreads // review
Loved this debut! And look how pretty!! This is the Waterstones exclusive edition with pretty gold pages too:

Okay, I know the picture doesn't show it too well, but I promise the edges of the book are gold in color!

Confession time: I actually got 3 books this week, cause I totally forgot I preordered a copy of The Iron Witch months ago cause it was half price on Amazon, until it showed up in the post on Thursday. I then still went hunting for the gold paged one cause Kaz had been nice enough to tweet pictures of it and make me want one too badly ;) I shall give the 'regular' UK one to one of my best friends when she's back from Uni and keep the pretty gold one ;)

So that's it for me this week! What did you get in your mailbox?

In My Mailbox [12]

IMM is a weekly post hosted by Kirsti at The Story Siren as a chance to share the books we've bought and received over the past week.

I know I said I wasn't going to blog this weekend, but I am making the effort for an IMM post because I got so many awesome books for Christmas this year! Something that virtually never happens because I buy too many myself. Plus a couple other things I can't help squeeing over ;)

But before them, books I've bought:
Counterfeit Magic by Kelley Armstrong - Goodreads
On Kindle (not pictured):
Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian - Goodreads
The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter - Goodreads
Gifted:
The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove by Lauren Kate - Goodreads - this wasn't a present but a spare copy the lovely Nayuleska had and was kind enough to send me. Thank you!!

And on to Christmas gifts, starting with the non books ones:
Those are 2 of my favourite pressies this year, my St Vladimir's Academy hoody (Vampire Academy for those who don't know, avail from Arcane Vault. My poor mom had major drama getting this, and it only finally arrived on Christmas eve and all I could do on hearing the story yesterday was laugh at it all, like, seriously cracked up!! Oops!). I'm in love with this hoody because it's thick and warm and soft and Vampire Academy related!

The fluffy slipper boots are so awesome!! They're soooo soft and thick it's ridiculous. In the winter I'm always walking around downstairs with my regular boots on (think hiking/workman not heels ;) ) because of the freezing cold floors, but I won't wear slippers and with thick socks I just end up slipping across the floors. So sis decided to fix that problem this year with these 'boots.' Hard not to adore them, super soft, fluffy, warm and no slippage on the floors! Hurrah!!

And now for the far more interesting books:

Wicked Game by Jeri Smith-Ready - Goodreads
The Darkest Edge of Dawn by Kelly Gay - Goodreads
Masques by Patrica Briggs - Goodreads
Wolfsbane by Patricia Briggs - Goodreads
My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent (UK version, I've got the US one already but it's so pretty!!) - Goodreads
My Love Lies Bleeding by Alyxandra Harvey - Goodreads
Blood Feud by Alyxandra Harvey - Goodreads
The Dark Divine by Bree Despain - Goodreads
The Crescent by Jordan Deen - Goodreads - my review (I read a copy from UK Book Tours a while back and adored it, had to get my own copy!)
Signed US copy of Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs - Goodreads - my review

Simply put, an awesome haul this week that I'm now staring at and wondering how the hell I'm going to get through them all because I want to read them all 'next' (well, excluding the ones I've already read...)

So what did you get in your mailbox (or under the tree!) this week?

Will now go back to hiding and blog silence as am exhausted and barely managed this post, see ya'll in a couple days :)

IMM is a weekly post hosted by Kirsti at The Story Siren. But, IMM is officially on break for the Christmas period, so there is no post/linky over there today. However, I got a couple cool titles this week I wanted to share, so I'm still posting an IMM.

In My Mailbox [6]

IMM is a weekly post hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

This is the first IMM I've done for a couple weeks as I was on my book buying ban and had nothing to share. This week I do, though it's still a very short post.

Bought
Boy's Don't Cry by Malorie Blackman
Angel by L. A. Weatherly [finished copy which I got signed when I met her. She's lovely!] - review

Yep, that's it lol but very good week anyways as they're both fantastic books. I'm horse riding again which means money is being spent on lessons rather than books, so it's turned from a month long ban to a continual restriction. Which I can live with, but most likely means my IMM posts will be sporadic for the next while.

IMM & Links

In My Mailbox is a weekly post hosted by Kirsti at The Story Siren.

This is a very short IMM this week as I am still on that book buying ban, so I've only got one thing to mention. And it's not a book either, but it is book related.

That is a necklace titled 'Rose's Heart' made by Psynde and is from her Vampire Academy range on Etsy. Isn't it beautiful?! I love her work, and I've got several other of her VA pieces, all of which I love, but I think this is probably my favourite necklace from her. I just love it so I had to share! I seriously recommend checking out Psynde's store to see the other pieces she offers, both from her VA range and the other ranges she has, as they're all awesome!

But mentioning that alone is a very short post, so I'm also adding a bunch of links to interesting things :)

First up, my giveaway for a signed copy of Jennifer Lynn Barnes' Raised by Wolves (UK only) closes tonight at midnight (UK time)! Get your entry in if you haven't yet, just a few hours left!

My international giveaway for a copy of To Kill a Warlock by HP Mallory is open until Friday 22nd, so if you've not yet entered, do so! Also, HP is holding a very awesome contest of her own, check out my post about it here for details.

Diana Rowland, author of the very awesome Kara Gillian series has the first 2 chapters of book #3 Secrets of the Demon live on her site now here. It's a fab start and I'm very excited for this book!

The lovely Jessica over at A Great Read is currently holding her 100 Followers giveaway offering some fab prizes! Go check it out! (US/Canada only) Ends Oct 31st.

I am just 5 followers away from a 100 followers giveaway myself (exciting!! Thank you to all those who already follow!!), and if you want some bonus entries for when I do hold it, just check out this post here.

And finally...nope, that's it, got no more links for you right now. Do want to say a small apology for the blog absence this week, I got very ill after riding on Monday and have spent most of the week in bed barely able to get up. So everything took a back seat. Am picking up now but I'm a little unsure of how much blogging I will manage this week as I have basically spent the past week with both wrists in braces as well, which makes typing a little awkward and uncomfortable.

Anyway, hope you've all had a good week reading and picked up more new titles than I have!!

Sunday, 10 October 2010

In My Mailbox [5]

In My Mailbox is a weekly post hosted by Kirsti at The Story Siren. It's a chance to share what books we've bought/received in the previous week.

I didn't post a IMM last week as I had nothing to report. Why? Because I am on a self imposed book buying ban. Which as it turned out, timed perfectly or I wouldn't be able to afford my riding lessons which I'm just about to start again. Yay! Except, it's also going to mean less books once again, generally speaking. Oh well. Anyway, the ban means the titles I've received this week are all review titles from various sources, plus one book that I won.

Okay, for review, from Lynsey at UK Book Tours I received:
The Cinderella Society by Kay Cassidy
ARC copy of Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

From NetGalley and HarperTeen I've got:
Afterlife by Claudia Gray [I already finished this one and 'fab!' is all I'm saying about it right now.]
Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Delirium by Lauren Oliver

And finally for review titles, direct from the author:
Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by H. P. Mallory.

I also won a signed ARC copy of Magic at the Gate by Devon Monk!
That post-it was on the cover when I took it out the envelope, but I put it inside for safe keeping ;)

So really was a 'In My Mailbox' week, virtually and in reality (...if you ignore the fact of my being in the UK means it's not a mailbox and it comes straight through the front door to land on the doormat...). A great week as well! So excited to get in to all of these titles, I'm seriously at a loss as to which to decide on next!! A massive Thank You to all those who are responsible for supplying me with these titles.

What's in your mailbox this week?

Won:

Bought:

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler [review]
Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews

Bayou Moon, Twenty Boy Summer and Angel are all fantastic reads and I'm very excited to get in to the others soon! Great week for me book wise (and swag wise!) totally making up for my having a nasty cold that's left me feeling like complete crap all week long.

In My Mailbox [3]

In My Mailbox is a weekly post hosted by Kirsti at The Story Siren. Gives us the chance to share what books we've bought/received over the past week.

For Review:
The Crescent by Jordan Deen [review] - from UK Book Tours, thank you!

Bought:
Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers [review]
Low Red Moon by Ivy Devlin

Also received The Cry of the Icemark by Stuart Hall from one of my best friends. She told me I can take a year to read it because that's how long she'd had some of my books. She's been away on a gap year with little reading time so I don't hold it against her, much ;)

Not so much this week, but my bank balance is very happy for it. Gives me a chance to catch up a little on some reading as well! So what did you get in your mailbox this week?
